From what age can I get a driving licence?
It depends on the class: scooter/moped (AM) from 15, light motorcycle (A1) from 16, car with “accompanied driving” (B17) from 17, car (B), trailer and motorcycle up to 35 kW (A2) from 18. Unrestricted Class A is available directly from 24 or as a step-up from 20. Training can sometimes begin slightly earlier than the test – ask us about your start date.
How long does getting a driving licence take?
That depends on you: how often you have time and how quickly you learn. Many manage it in a few months. We plan theory and practice so that it fits your daily life.
What does the training include?
Theory lessons (basic material + class-specific material), driving lessons and, for Class B, additional special drives: 5 rural drives, 4 motorway drives and 3 night drives. Then the theory and practical tests follow.
Can I register online?
Yes – you can pre-register online; it only takes a few minutes. You then sign the binding training contract in person with us and bring your documents.
What is the difference between B and B197?
With B197 you mainly learn on an automatic and take a short manual-gearbox test. Afterwards you may drive automatic and manual cars – a relaxed route if you find shifting gears difficult.
Is there an Online Learning Portal for students?
Yes. Every training course at Fahrschule Akay includes the Online Learning Portal – included with us. After registration you receive personal access. There you will find practice quizzes, lessons, your learning plan, your appointments and messages to us. It complements theory lessons and driving lessons but does not replace them.
Can I pay in instalments?
We will find a solution that suits your situation. Just talk to us – ideally via the chat or WhatsApp.
What happens if I fail the test?
That is not the end of the world. We discuss with you what went wrong, practise specifically and register you for the next date.
